It's really great to give away a $500 gift card. I want to ask you, if I gave you a $500 gift card to Sephora, what would you do with it?

That's a lot of money, first of all.

It is.

That's a lot of money, right? But I'd go big here. When I get any type of gift card, especially when it comes to Sephora stuff, I tend to go for the products that I wouldn't necessarily buy myself but that I want. Right now, Peter Thomas Roth has these 20% glycolic jumbo swab peels. I mean, I want to basically remove my face.

You know what I would probably buy? From Giorgio Armani, they have the Master Correctors, little babies with a little baby wand. So I would probably buy that and other stuff too.

So yeah, I would most likely go to 34th Street and just spend the whole day at my old store.

Oh, anything. I'd be like, "I got the big bucks. Give me a shopping bag."

I mean, it's easy. I have to get the Blow Away Kit from Dyson. I really want to get a kit. I'm telling you, it came from my budget this holiday for sure.

Okay, so let's get into some best practices with gift cards.

Of course, as always, we have the OG.

Now that's a tradition.

Yeah, that's one of the best parts about Sephora gift cards, that they always come with a free compact. I think a lot of people love that little addition. So not only are you getting the gift of extra funding, you're also getting something that you can kind of open, and it just goes with the gift card so you're not just getting a piece of plastic.

Actually, they're a double-sided mirror. I love these. I have a couple of these in my kit because I use them oftentimes to give to models. They're really nice.

And this is a great way to get a gift card. But we also have specialized birthday gift cards, so you can really customize and specialize. If it's somebody's birthday, specifically make them feel a little bit more special.

Right, because how many of your friends have birthdays around the holidays and they get all mad because they don't get a real birthday?

Right.

At least you can give them a birthday gift and then a holiday gift card at the same time.

Exactly. Also, I feel like when you're giving a gift card, it's like, how do you spend that? It's free money, right?

Right.

For me, some people like to kind of refill their stuff. For me, if I'm giving you a birthday gift card and it's got lipstick and lips on it, I want you to go and glam up. Try something.

Let's talk about this now.

Okay, so for the holidays, we do have some special offerings for holiday gift cards, which I really, really love. I think that these are adorable. They actually have holographic bows.

And then these little packets are awesome. I love that you can kind of slip the gift card in. Inside is a little sticker, and then on the back of the card it says:

"Dear whoever you're giving it to, we both know that shopping is half the fun, which it is. Here's some cash to get exactly what you want, plus stickers, which is also fun. And why not get a makeover too?"

Basically, what this is doing is inviting you to use the gift card toward your $50 minimum purchase for a custom makeover, which is what you've been talking about this whole time.

You can always stop by a Sephora and get a free makeover and utilize your gift card on one of those products. If you're looking to buy skincare, get a skincare service from one of those stores that have skincare areas, and then treat yourself to some great luxury skincare. Like a mini facial at Sephora.

You don't? You're not living for these '80s-inspired colors?

Okay, so this is one of our newest additions to the gift card situation at Sephora. It's a customizable gift card.

You can do this online.

Yeah, you can now go on Sephora.com and actually insert family photos and stuff, upload them onto the gift card, and then send it that way.

And I love that you were mentioning earlier that you could put this and the actual photo in a little envelope. That's so cute to receive in the mail for your holiday gifting and your cards that you're sending out to people.

Just put that on the gift card.

When it comes to gift cards, I think a big thing about it is, like we were saying, it's free money. Go in and try some new stuff. Get some samples. Try some sun care. Try some fragrance samples. See what you like. Scope the market. Don't just kind of blow it on whatever. Take that as a chance to pamper yourself.

Hey, if you're looking at that new palette, that great palette, get a service. How about a custom makeover where they put it on your eyes before you purchase it with your gift card?

So there are a lot of fun options with gift cards. Personally, for me, I think that a Sephora gift card is probably one of the smartest gifts.

What more personal can you get than giving somebody the option to go in and kind of pamper themselves with skincare, hair care, makeup, beauty, whatever it is? It is such a personal gift. I just think it's so lovely.
